Beach season is almost here!
Beach season is quickly approaching … how excited are you!? Probably just as excited as I am! No matter what your body shape, bathing suit season can be torturous! Trying on the first suit of the season is a nightmare, but it’s not too late to shape up and gain some confidence for when you strut your stuff down those sandy beaches this summer.
So, here are some tips care of MSNBC Health that will get you on the right track to looking and feeling fantastic. And remember, it’s not just about losing weight! Get into that weight room and add some muscle tone to help you get that great beach body!
- Write down your goals. Before you even start, make a plan and stick to it. Writing down your goals will help you stay motivated.
- Have some fun! Mix up your workout by ditching routine and try something new. Skip the gym and run outside, go for a hike, or swim a few laps.
- Try interval training. Cardio at a constant pace can get REALLY boring and doesn’t always produce the best results. When jogging or biking, use short bursts of speed followed by easier periods to get the most out of your workout. And ALWAYS include a warm-up and cool-down!!
- Add variety to core-strengthening. Crunches aren’t the only way to tighten up your abs. Plank exercises can be done on several difficulty levels and really work those love-handles.
- Break less. Keeping up your heart rate is extremely important, so avoid full breaks when possible. Moving quickly from one exercise to the next will keep up your heart rate and burn more calories.
- Remember the major muscles. There will always be problem areas … BUT for your overall appearance focus on ALL of your major muscles. Balance in your workouts makes your entire body more fit and also reduces the risk of posture problems.
